Chinese President Calls Russian, Pakistani Presidents

Chinese President Jiang Zemin made telephone calls to Russian President Vladimir Putin and Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf on Friday afternoon, briefing them on the visit to China by United States President George W. Bush.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jiang exchanged views on bilateral and international issues of common concern with the leaders of the two countries.

Both Putin and Musharraf congratulated Jiang on the success of the summit meeting between China and the United States. They also emphasized that the successful development of the relationship between China and the U.S. is conducive to peace and development throughout the world.
