CCTV: A Magnificent 2008 Leading to a Promising 2009
TV Series and Entertainment Programs Keep a Steady High Audience Rating
In 2008, a variety of TV Series took turn to fill the Golden Theatre of CCTV-1, including Chuang Guan Dong, Country Love II, Love Tree (Xiang Si Shu), Anonymous Hero, Police Stories, Flagship, Seven Days Astounding the World, Harbin under the Curtain of Night, Top-secret Escorts, The Legend of Bruce Lee, Taiwan 1895, A Sanguine Persistence, Shi Wan Ren Jia, etc.
The magnificent historical drama Chuang Guan Dong debuting at the beginning of the year has an average audience rating of 8.2%, and an average audience share of 20.6%, a peak record in recent years. Country Love II, a light comedy rich in North-east rustic flavor, enjoys an average audience rating of 8.48%, and an average audience share of 20.86%. Harbin under the Curtain of Night, a classic rendition of the homonymous play, has reached the best one-episode audience rating of 8%. Top-secret Escorts, an exposition for the first time of the mystic life of special corps, has achieved an audience rating that hits 9.54% at its highest. The Legend of Bruce Lee is of an average audience rating of 11.26%, and an average audience share of 29.20%, the highest one-episode audience rating being 14.86%, a new record since 2003 when the TV Series audience data is collected.
The artistic and special-topic programs of CCTV are also highly praised by audience domestic and overseas. The 2008 Spring Festival Gala, Youth Singer TV Competition, Cross-talk Competition, Moving China, and other TV activities quite entertain the audience; and such elaborate film documentaries as Drinking Water of the Same River, Song of the Forest, Inquiring the Water, China Stories, have all received high audience satisfaction for their humanistic values.
