Newcomers to the city of Taipei will soon notice certain things that are somewhat unusual and unexpected. For instance, lavatories in the city tend to be called power rooms. License plates on cars are categorized as that of Taiwan Province, Kaohsiung City, or Taipei City. There are many other things that catch the attention of newcomers and visitors alike.

Taiwan is full of hills and hot springs. And people have long developed a habit of taking hot spring baths, which are considered to be good for the health in general. Some hot springs, at certain locations, are said to have curative effects. But do you know what they say when they want to take a hot spring bath? Do you also know that water from some hot springs can in fact boil eggs?
