TV addicts have been spending time at an international exhibition on television information and network, which closed in Beijing on Wednesday.
Visitors enjoyed high quality audio and visual programs brought by digital television. Exhibitors said, after the digitalization of the country's TV network, the number of TV channels will increase tenfold, from the current 50 to 500. And people will be able to enjoy more programs with DVD and theater-quality sound effects, without being disturbed by commercials. A set-top box is all that is required to receive digital TV signals, and can turn the TV set into a multiple information terminal for the family. It has integrated functions of memory, web browsing and gaming. China started its efforts to digitalize TV programs in 2003, and aims to finish the migration by 2015. Authorities have so far, approved 79 paid-digital channels.
