China-ROK considering possibility of FTA

China and South Korea are jointly considering the possibility of creating a free trade area between the two countries. The two sides signed a deal this weekend in Beijing to officially launch the study. The research was first initiated by Chinese President Hu Jintao and his counterpart Roh Moo-hyun during the APEC summit last November. South Korea is China's fourth largest trading partner. The trade between Beijing and Seoul recorded rapid growth in recent years. Trade volume hit 90 billion US dollars in 2004.
