List of 190 key brand names released

In recent years, Chinese brands are venturing out of China to make their mark abroad. China's Ministry of Commerce has released a list of brand names that will receive support from the government in terms of exports in the 2005-2006 fiscal year.

Haier, Erdos, Huawei and ZTE are among the 190 brand names on the list. The ministry says the move is to help cultivate national brand names and enhance the competitiveness of Chinese products on the international market. It will also help change the growth pattern of Chinese exports. The list covers a wide range of products including mechanical and engineering equipment, textiles and garments, pharmaceuticals, and food. Brand names from six provinces in East China took the largest share on the list.
