中国爱乐乐团简介

与新千年共同肇始的中国爱乐乐团已走过了十四年的历程,历经十三个音乐季。伴随着中国的高速发展,这个年轻的交响乐团在世界音乐舞台上横空出世。短短十四年间,便赢得海内外极大的关注,实现了异乎寻常的惊人跨越。在新的世纪,世界见证了中国经济迅速崛起的奇迹,也认同了中华民族在艺术发展上蕴藏着的无限能量,中国爱乐乐团的成长就是一例明证。

中国爱乐乐团交出的答卷有着醒目的标记:2009年春天,英国《留声机》杂志评出“世界十大最具影响力的乐团”,中国爱乐乐团与柏林爱乐乐团、伦敦交响乐团、纽约爱乐乐团等一起榜上有名!

这份答卷建立在这样的基础上:十四年间,中国爱乐乐团已举行了包括交响乐、歌剧、清唱剧、戏剧配乐、芭蕾音乐、室内乐等多种艺术形式在内的近千余套音乐会,演奏了近三千部作品,观众累计百余万人,国内、国外巡演行程约计百万公里,相当于环绕地球20余圈。

只有在这样一个阔大雄奇的背景下,加之十四年历程上种种业绩成就,我们才能理解中国爱乐乐团的发展,才能认识到在中国大地上,有这样一批艺术家以无比炽热的激情和真诚执着的信念,凝聚起各界的力量,努力实践着自己的理想,从而使中国交响乐事业走上了职业化的路径。

2000年5月25日,在中央领导同志和中宣部的关心指导下,中国爱乐乐团在原中国广播交响乐团基础上组建成立。中国爱乐乐团是国家级交响乐团,直属于国家新闻出版广电总局,现任团长为李南,余隆担任艺术总监和首席指挥。作为中国年轻且最具活力的交响乐团,乐团以高度的职业化标准,为中国交响乐事业的发展树立起一个挺拔的标杆。

2000年12月16日,余隆指挥中国爱乐乐团在北京保利剧院举行首演音乐会。自2001年9月至2014年的十三个音乐季中,中国爱乐乐团全体音乐家、管理层在几任团长和艺术总监余隆的领导下,付出巨大心血、智慧、艰辛和努力,以坚定、坚实的步伐,实现了艺术水准的持续提升,赢得世界范围的广泛瞩目和赞誉。

2001年9月至2002年7月第一个音乐季的重要演出包括当代作曲大师菲利普·格拉斯大提琴协奏曲的“世界首演”、柏辽兹《浮士德的责罚》以及由中国爱乐乐团委约创作的京剧交响乐《杨门女将》等。在接下来的音乐季中,余隆指挥中国爱乐乐团与近千名中外音乐家合作,完成了马勒第八《千人》交响曲的中国首演,成为中国当代乐界具有历史意义的盛事。该音乐季还推出了“不朽的贝多芬”系列音乐会,余隆及多位指挥家与来自国内外的优秀音乐家合作,在九场音乐会上演奏了贝多芬的全部交响曲、协奏曲和大部分序曲。此系列音乐会的最后一场尤其令人激赏,余隆指挥乐团对贝多芬第九《合唱》交响曲的阐释令人信服地证明,经过两个音乐季的成长,中国爱乐乐团已当之无愧地跻身于亚洲最优秀的交响乐团之列。随着2003-2004音乐季的结束,中国爱乐乐团最终完成了跨越三个音乐季的庞大音乐工程——将马勒的全部交响曲呈现给中国听众。

此后,乐团还相继举行了纪念德沃夏克逝世100周年、莫扎特诞辰250周年和肖斯塔科维奇诞辰100周年、门德尔松诞辰200周年、海顿逝世200周年系列音乐会以及纪念指挥大师卡拉扬百周年诞辰音乐会等,将一个交响乐团的生长融入世界文化丰饶的土壤之中。

中国爱乐乐团因其艺术与管理观念的高起点和对交响乐艺术的执著精神,不仅为广大音乐受众提供了丰富而高格调的音乐生活,亦获得国内外社会资源的殷殷襄助,这是她不同于国内其他乐团的得天独厚之处。来自不同领域的交响乐爱好者及赞助者,以自己乐意的方式为这支年轻而富朝气的乐团提供精神和物质上的支持,成为乐团高速而稳定前行的坚强后盾和动力。在这个空间中,音乐是神祗,艺术至高无上,人们在敬畏天籁之声的同时,亦享受到生命和生活的美好与可贵。

中国爱乐乐团在十四年间亦完成了大量作品的世界首演、中国首演,数量之多堪称中国当代乐界的奇迹。正是在这样频密的艺术活动中,乐团逐渐形成并确立起自己鲜明的艺术风格,形成并凝聚了一个朝气蓬勃的艺术家群体。

中国爱乐乐团始终不渝地以推动、弘扬中国音乐新作品为己任,每个音乐季都安排中国音乐作品专场音乐会,并坚持向国内外杰出作曲家委约创作。因为他们清晰地认识到,他们代表中国,代表一个伟大民族的精神风貌和胸怀。

2002年5月20日,乐团委约作曲家杜鸣心创作的京剧交响乐《杨门女将》(音乐会版)。2002年10月17日,郭文景的交响曲《东方红日》世界首演。2002年10月20日,乐团完成了旅法作曲家陈其钢的《五行》、《蝶恋花》中国首演以及《逝去的时光》(二胡与乐队版)世界首演。2003年3月2日,为约翰·沙普利的筝协奏曲《傲鹤还巢》举行世界首演。2004年8月29日,波兰作曲家克里斯托夫·潘德列茨基指挥乐团与钢琴家德米特里·阿列克谢耶夫合作,完成了潘德列茨基钢琴协奏曲《复活》的中国首演。2005年2月18日,乐团委约叶小纲根据中国唐诗创作的对应古斯塔夫·马勒同名作品的《大地之歌》在保利剧院举行别具意义的世界首演。2005年4月27日,乐团委约赵季平作曲,龚国泰配器的京剧《杨门女将》(舞台版)世界首演。2007年6月16日,中国爱乐乐团委约赵季平作曲的《乔家大院》组曲世界首演。2007年9月1日,在2007-2008音乐季开幕音乐会上,乐团委约叶小纲创作的《巍巍昆仑》世界首演。同年9月23日,乐团委约郭文景创作的音诗《江山多娇》世界首演。10月24日,乐团在第十届北京国际音乐节分别由谭盾和潘德列茨基指挥,对谭盾《马克·波罗的四条神秘之路》和潘德列茨基作曲的第八交响曲《无常之歌》举行世界首演。该场音乐会被誉为东西方音乐对话的成功范例。

在2012年,中国爱乐乐团发行了一套乐团在过往音乐季演出中的现场录音合集,这套100张CD的唱片套装收录了乐团在过往105场音乐会中演奏的213部中西方经典作品,其中不少作品系第一次由中国的交响乐团录制发行,其中包括瓦格纳歌剧《特里斯坦与伊索尔德》全剧,亨德尔歌剧《塞魅力》全剧,马勒第一、第三、第五、第六、第七、第九交响曲以及布鲁克纳第四、第八、第九交响曲等鸿篇巨作,创造了我国交响乐团在唱片录制方面的新纪录。

中国爱乐乐团自成立伊始,即以经典音乐的“宣言书”、“宣传队”、“播种机”为己任,她在艺术总监余隆的率领下,不辞辛苦、热情、敬业地进行区域广泛并且高密度的境内外巡演,既赢得由衷的赞誉,又使所到之处,领略了中国艺术家演奏经典音乐的无穷魅力和爱乐精神的传播。

2001年9月,乐团在台北、新竹、台中和高雄举行了音乐会。2002年6月赴中北美洲,在波多黎各的卡萨尔斯音乐节上,分别由余隆和时任乐团首席客座指挥、作曲家和指挥家潘德列茨基指挥了两场音乐会,之后在圣何塞和洛杉矶等地进行美国西海岸巡演。同年9月赴日本和韩国举办音乐会,2003年9月,乐团出访欧洲,在巴黎国家大剧院、华沙国家大剧院和维也纳音乐之友协会金色大厅举行了极为轰动的演出。

2004年12月,乐团受意大利共和国政府特邀,赴罗马议会大厅与意大利男中音歌唱家利奥·努奇、女高音歌唱家芭芭拉·弗丽托莉合作,演出圣诞音乐会,意大利国家电视台通过欧洲联播节目向全欧洲直播了该场音乐会,在欧洲引起巨大反响。

2005年2月至4月是注定铭刻在乐团历史上的一个重要时段,乐团在艺术总监余隆率领下远涉重洋,举行中国音乐史上空前规模的环球世界巡演,在美国、加拿大、意大利、斯洛文尼亚、克罗地亚、英国、德国等国家的22个城市举行音乐会,其巡演时间之长,涉足地域之广,演出场次之多,不仅在中国乐团出访史上前所未有,在世界的交响乐团中亦属罕见。纽约林肯中心音乐厅、伦敦巴比肯中心音乐厅和柏林爱乐音乐厅等地演出的音乐会均引起轰动,受到包括美国《纽约时报》、英国《泰晤士报》、德国《法兰克福汇报》等媒体的盛赞。

2006年1月27日,为纪念伟大作曲家莫扎特250年诞辰日,中国爱乐乐团作为唯一的亚洲乐团与柏林爱乐乐团、维也纳爱乐乐团、纽约爱乐乐团、捷克爱乐乐团等参加全球电视接力直播音乐会。

2008年5月,乐团访问梵蒂冈,在著名的保罗六世大厅由余隆指挥演出了莫扎特的《安魂曲》和中国乐曲《茉莉花》,受到包括教皇本笃十六世在内的八千余名听众的热烈欢迎,并得到了教皇向全世界发出的对北京奥运和中国人民的祝福。此举被国内外媒体称为音乐外交的“破冰之旅”。

2010年10月,中国爱乐乐团应文化部邀请随时任国务院总理温家宝赴意大利出席为庆祝中意建交40周年而举行的“中国文化年”活动。中国爱乐乐团在罗马歌剧院向意大利观众奉献了一场高水平音乐会,以代表中国文化的京剧和代表西方文化的意大利歌剧在同一舞台上出现的独特形式,正式拉开了“中国文化年”的帷幕。温家宝总理和意大利总理贝卢斯科尼出席了音乐会,共同见证了这次中意文化交流的盛况。演出前温家宝总理在下榻酒店亲切接见了乐团并合影留念。

2011年4月,受美国哥伦比亚演出经纪公司邀请,中国爱乐乐团在余隆率领下再次赴美国西海岸巡演,先后在旧金山、戴维斯、圣芭芭拉、科斯塔梅萨、北岭、圣地亚哥、棕榈沙漠等地举行音乐会,所到之处,场场爆满,演出盛况令人激动。值得一提的是,这是中国爱乐乐团最成功的一次国际商业巡演,票房的成功对于中国的交响乐团是一个极大的鼓舞。

2012年2月,中德文化年在德国柏林开幕,作为开幕式的音乐会演出,中国爱乐乐团被德国媒体和音乐界誉为“真正德国乐团的声音”。

在2012年及2013年,中国爱乐乐团发行的百张演出现场录音CD套装几乎囊括了中国唱片界的所有大奖,成为音乐收藏界的奇迹。

2014年7月,中国爱乐乐团受英国逍遥音乐节之邀赴伦敦演出,成为第一支登上世界顶级夏季音乐节舞台的中国乐团。同年夏天,乐团完成了交响乐艺术电影小提琴协奏曲《梁山伯与祝英台》的录制,这将成为我国第一部该类型的艺术电影。

如果一定要评价中国爱乐乐团的风格和特色,那么就是霸气与温婉、嚣张与内敛,既有恢宏博大的整体结构,气息绵长的律动线条,也有素朴凝重的情感蕴藉,激荡澎湃的高潮时刻……中国爱乐乐团的音乐表现就像大千世界,似绚丽人生,有起伏,有跌宕,有艰辛,有欢乐,生命三昧,均体现在乐团十四年的艺术历程中。当经典与新锐,长者与末学、大师与新秀,共同铸就中国爱乐壮丽感人的管弦乐之音时,我们既共同对伟大的音乐传统敬畏和朝圣,也不忘对十四年来为中国爱乐乐团付诸心血、无私奉献的爱乐朋友们鞠躬致礼。

China Philharmonic Orchestra

It has been twelve years decade since the inception of China Philharmonic Orchestra (CPO) amid miraculous development. For the past twelve years CPO has achieved an astonishing leap forward and won wide attention home and abroad. CPO sets an example for the infinite potential of Chinese cultural renewal and economic boom, as witnessed by the rest of the world.

Yet one cannot comprehend CPO’s accomplishment without perceiving its exciting and enormous social frame. A large number of artists work together to fulfill their dreams with zealous passion and determination. This makes it possible to lead the great symphonic music course in China to a better and merrier destination.

‘Spring's command, sweet necessity (Lenzes Gebot, die süsse Not)’, as put by Hans Sachs in Richard Wagner’s Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg. With the motto “to be the best orchestra in China, leading in Asia and renowned in the world” set at the very beginning, CPO is bound to unveil a new chapter in the symphonic music scene.

And so be it and how true is sweet necessity. In the spring of 2009, CPO was named Most Inspiring Orchestras by Gramophone online, joining the glittering array of ten fellow orchestras including Berliner Philharmoniker, London Symphony Orchestra and New York Philharmonic Orchestra.

For that moment CPO has prepared for twelve years with more than 500 programmes, presenting over 2,000 music pieces and attracting millions of audience. It has toured the country and the globe by more than half a million miles, an equivalent of circling the world 20 times.

One

With the patronage of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, China Philharmonic Orchestra was founded on the basis of China Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra and administered by the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television. Long Yu is the Artistic Director and Chief Conductor. As one of the youngest and most dynamic symphony orchestras in China, CPO takes pride in professionalism, a role model to be followed by its Chinese peers.

On December 16th 2000, Long Yu conducted CPO in the inaugural concert at Poly Theatre in Beijing to huge acclaim. In the past nine subscription seasons since September 2001, musicians and orchestra managers attained unprecedented artistic standards with endeavor and wisdom under the leadership of Long Yu and successive chairs.

Highlights of the inaugural season from September 2001 to July 2002 include the world premiere of Philip Glass’ Cello Concerto, Berlioz’s La Damnation de Faust and Women General of Yang Family, a symphony poem in Peking opera style commissioned by CPO. In the following season Long Yu conducted the China premiere of Mahler’s Symphony No. 8 (Symphony of a Thousand) with nearly a thousand domestic and visiting artists on the stage. It is a milestone in the music history in China. That season also offered complete Beethoven symphony cycle, concertos and most of his overtures as part of the Immortal Beethoven concert series, highlighted by the closing concert of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 conducted by Long Yu in a most convincing approach. For the first two ambitious seasons CPO qualifies itself as one of the leading orchestras in Asia. CPO also presented the complete symphony cycle of Mahler in the first three seasons. Forthcoming seasons boast of centennial concerts devoted to Dvoák, Mozart, Shostakovich, Mendelssohn, Haydn and Karajan.

In view of CPO’s artistic and managerial integrity, music lovers and sponsors from all walks of life have generously supported this orchestra with monetary and moral contributions. Together they form the strong backbones of CPO. backbones of CPO.

In the past twelve years CPO has presented numerous premieres that are virtually nowhere to be found elsewhere in China and forged its own style through extensive artistic involvement.

On October 21st 2001 Philip Glass’ Cello Concerto, commissioned by CPO, got its world premiere at Poly Theatre in Beijing. This is the first commissioned work by an oversee composer from music establishment in China ever.

CPO is also the champion of Chinese contemporary music and stages premieres or commissions every season. Important premieres encompass Women General of the Yang Family by DU Mingxin on May 20th 2002, Oriental Sun by GUO Wenjing on October 17th 2002, Les Cinq Elements, Iris dévoilée and Reflet d'un temps disparu by CHEN Qigang on October 17th 2002, When Cranes Fly Home by John Sharpley on March 2nd 2003, Resurrection Piano Concerto by Krzysztof Penderecki on August 29th 2004 with the composer on the podium and Dmitri Alexeev on the keyboard.

Other essential world premiere are credited to CPO: The Song of the Earth after Mahler’s namesake by Chinese composer YE Xiaogang at Poly Theatre on February 18th 2005, The Lofty Kunlun Mountains by YE on September 1st 2007 commissioned by CPO, tone poem This Land So Rich in Beauty by GUO Wenjing on September 23rd in the same year. CPO presented a typical and well-acclaimed east meets west concert on October 24th during the 10th Beijing Music Festival, featuring a double bill world premiere of TAN Dun’s Four Secret Roads of Marco Polo and Penderecki’s Symphony No. 8 Lieder der Verganglichkeit.

CPO is the active and frequent advocate of Chinese music in the global sphere. With Long YU and his fellow conductors SHI Shucheng, YANG Yang and XIA Xiaotang, the orchestra is involved in a wide range of tours ever since. CPO toured in Taipei, Taichung, Hsinchu and Kaohsiung in September 2001.In June 2002, CPO toured North and Latin America with Long Yu and Penderecki conducting two performances at the Casals Festival in Peuto Rico, followed by sensational bay area concerts in San Jose and Los Angeles etc. In September 2002, CPO toured Japan and Korea followed by a European tour in the following September including Opéra National de Paris, Teatr Narodowy in Warsaw and Wiener Musikverein goldener Saal.

In December 2004 as invited by the government of Italy, CPO shared the stage at the Congress Hall in Rome with Leo Nucci and Barbara Frittoli in the Christmas concert. The concert was transmitted live in Europe via RAI and won high esteem.

February to April 2005 came the historic moment of CPO when the orchestra launched anunprecedented world tour under the baton of Long Yu covering 22 cities in US, Canada, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, UK, highlighted by concerts in Lincoln Centre, Barbican Centre and Berliner Philharmonie with positive reviews from New York Times, Times and Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.

To commemorate the 250th anniversary of Mozart, CPO as the only Asian orchestra joined the live transmitted concert rally on January 27th 2006 with Berliner Philharmoniker, Wiener Philharmoniker, New York Philharmonic and Czech Philharmonic Orchestra.

In May 2008, CPO was invited to play at the Paul VI Audience Hall in Vatican to over 8,000 audience including his Holiness Pope Benedict XVI with a programme of Mozart Requiem and Chinese folk tune Jasmine Flower. International and domestic press hailed the concert as an ice breaking music venture.

In October 2010, invited by the Ministry of Culture, CPO gave a tour concert in Rome during Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao visited Italy on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Italy and China and for the inauguration of the Chinese Cultural Year in Italy. Dedicating Italian audience a high standard concert, CPO appeared on the stage of the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma with a unique program, a combination of the classics of Chinese culture, Peking Opera and of Italian opera. Premier Wen Jiabao and Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi attended the opening concert, jointly giving witness on the Sino-Italian cultural exchange event. Premier Wen Jiabo has also met the musicians of the CPO and taken pictures at his hotel before the concert.

In April 2011, promoted by the CAMI Music, the CPO, under the directing of Mo. Long Yu, toured in the West Coast area again in the United States, giving concerts in San Francisco, Davis, Santa Barbara, Costa Mesa, Northridge, San Diego, Palm Desert and other places. Those sold-out concerts made a stir among audiences. It is worth mentioning that this is the most successful international tour for the COP; A success in box office is a great encouragement for the Chinese Symphony Orchestras.

To commemorate its 10th anniversary, CPO announced five celebratory concerts from April 25th to May 25th 2010. The audiences get the chance to experience CPO’s enduring appeal and higher artistic standards. The concert series proves not only to be the showcase of an orchestra in progress but the overall China’s music endeavor in shape for the past twelve years.

The past twelve years encompasses all the emotional element found in music, regardless joy, pain, hardships or ups and downs. However this is the moment to celebrate the orchestra and its great course immortalized by the deceased and the being, the old and the young, the knowledged and the philistine, the maestri and the rising stars. CPO pays homage to them for all their contributions.

The course of the past twelve years for the CPO is the first scale in an interval of a century to come where we shall rejoice, summarize, reflect and anticipate.

余隆是活跃于国际乐坛的最杰出的中国指挥家之一。现任全国政协委员、中国音乐家协会副主席。中国爱乐乐团艺术总监和首席指挥、广州交响乐团音乐总监、上海交响乐团音乐总监和北京国际音乐节艺术总监、上海夏季音乐节艺术总监。

余隆是第一位应邀指挥美国五大交响乐团之一费城乐团的中国指挥家,也是与世界顶尖级交响乐团合作最多的华人指挥家。余隆与世界各地众多知名交响乐团和歌剧院有着广泛合作,他指挥过的乐团有芝加哥交响乐团、费城乐团、洛杉矶爱乐乐团、华盛顿国家交响乐团、辛辛那提交响乐团、巴黎管弦乐团、班贝格交响乐团、汉堡国家歌剧院、柏林广播交响乐团、莱比锡广播交响乐团、慕尼黑爱乐乐团、悉尼交响乐团、香港管弦乐团、东京爱乐乐团和新加坡交响乐团等。

余隆1964年出生于上海的音乐世家,自幼随外祖父、著名作曲家丁善德教授学习音乐。后求学于上海音乐学院和德国柏林高等艺术大学。先后受教于中国音乐教育家黄晓同教授和德国歌剧指挥家鲁宾斯坦教授等名师。出色的音乐天赋以及优越的教育背景为余隆的艺术生涯奠定了坚实基础,使得他能够迅速成长为一位成就卓著的指挥家。

余隆的艺术生涯涵盖指挥和艺术管理领域。1992年自德国学成回国后,余隆担任中央歌剧院常任指挥。同年,他创办了首届北京新年音乐会,并连续三年担任指挥,开启国内演出新年音乐会之先河。1993年起,余隆连续五年为香港市政局指挥歌剧演出。1998年,余隆发起并创办了北京国际音乐节,担任艺术总监。在他的出色领导下,北京国际音乐节不仅成为中国和亚洲规模最大的音乐节,也跻身于全球知名度最高的音乐节之列。在过去若干年间,金秋时节的北京国际音乐节上呈现了由众多著名乐团如柏林爱乐乐团和纽约爱乐乐团演出的精彩音乐会以及柏林德意志歌剧院、威尼斯凤凰歌剧院和圣彼得堡马林斯基剧院等带来的歌剧盛典,如《尼伯龙根的指环》、《玫瑰骑士》、《唐豪瑟》、《茶花女》、《纳布科》、《璐璐》和《姆钦斯克县的麦克白夫人》。

2000年,余隆参与创建了中国爱乐乐团,并担任艺术总监和首席指挥。余隆期望通过与众多世界知名音乐家的合作,使中国爱乐乐团发展成一个全能型职业化乐团,不仅向全世界介绍优秀的中国交响乐作品,也使得中国音乐家对西方音乐各时期及各种风格作品的演奏达到全新水准,并且在不同音乐形式上均有建树。余隆指挥中国爱乐乐团举行了许多大型作品的中国首演。2002年10月,作为第五届北京国际音乐节开幕式音乐会,余隆指挥包括中国爱乐乐团在内的近千名中外音乐家演出了马勒的第八《千人》交响曲,完成了这部宏伟巨作的历史性中国首演。从那时起,余隆指挥中国爱乐乐团演奏了几乎全部古典音乐的文献作品,并被誉为中国诠释德奥作品的最权威的指挥家。

2001年9月,余隆率中国爱乐乐团在台湾地区举行了成功的巡回演出。2002年6月,余隆率中国爱乐乐团参加了波多黎各的卡萨尔斯音乐节,随后在圣何塞、洛杉矶等地进行了美国西海岸巡演。同年9月,余隆再次率中国爱乐乐团赴海外巡演,在日本东京、神户、大阪和韩国汉城演出,所到之处均深受欢迎,尤其是在东京三得利音乐厅的音乐会,赢得了包括日本皇室成员在内的两千余名日本听众的热烈喝采,取得了轰动性成功。2003年,余隆的一系列重要指挥活动包括与东京爱乐乐团合作并率该团在中国巡演。同年5月起,他在作为北京国际音乐节艺术总监与中国爱乐乐团艺术总监和首席指挥的同时兼任广州交响乐团音乐总监。9月,余隆率领中国爱乐乐团赴欧洲巡演,在著名的巴黎国家歌剧院、华沙国家大剧院和维也纳音乐之友协会金色大厅演出,获得巨大成功。11月至12月间,余隆与大提琴家米沙•麦斯基和广州交响乐团一道进行大规模巡演,在巴黎香榭丽舍剧院、卢森堡音乐学院音乐厅、荷兰阿姆斯特丹音乐厅、开罗歌剧院和亚历山大音乐厅演出。2005年2月至4月,余隆率领中国爱乐乐团进行了规模空前的环球世界巡演,历时四十多天,跨越北美和欧洲,不仅在中国乐团出访史上前所未有,在全亚洲交响乐团中亦属罕见。2008年5月7日,余隆指挥中国爱乐乐团和上海歌剧院合唱团在梵蒂冈城保罗六世礼堂为教宗本笃十六世及八千余名听众演出了莫扎特的《安魂曲》,成为令全世界瞩目的重要文化盛事。英国《卫报》称此次意义非凡的演出为“中梵借音乐外交‘破冰’”。2009年11月,余隆率领上海交响乐团在纽约、洛杉矶、多伦多、圣地亚哥等北美12座城市进行了极为成功的巡演,《纽约时报》在2009年11月9日刊载专文介绍余隆的艺术成就,将余隆誉为“中国的赫伯特•冯•卡拉扬”。2010年3月,余隆率上海交响乐团赴波兰参加第十四届贝多芬音乐节,并在华沙和罗兹两座城市演出,受到各界高度评价。2011年,余隆再次率中国爱乐乐团巡访美国西海岸十数个城市。2012年中国春节期间,余隆指挥纽约爱乐乐团在卡内基音乐厅举行了首次中国新年音乐会,使得他的指挥艺术再一次在美国享受盛誉。

余隆作为指挥家以及交响乐团和音乐节的领导者多年来始终大力倡导当代音乐,他领导下的北京国际音乐节、中国爱乐乐团和广州交响乐团等机构和团体向当今最重要的作曲家委约创作,包括克里斯托夫•潘德列茨基、菲利普•格拉斯、郭文景、谭盾、叶小纲和陈银淑等。

余隆指挥的录音包括德意志唱片公司录制发行、中国爱乐乐团演奏的勃拉姆斯G小调钢琴四重奏(阿诺德•勋伯格配器)和瓦格纳的《唐豪瑟》序曲、中国管弦乐作品集以及由郎朗担任钢琴独奏的钢琴协奏曲《黄河》。拿索斯公司发行有余隆指挥科恩格尔德的小提琴协奏曲和丁善德的《长征交响曲》。

鉴于余隆在推动当今世界古典音乐事业发展和促进国际间文化交流方面所做的突出贡献,2002年,德国万宝龙文化基金会向余隆颁发了年度“万宝龙卓越艺术成就奖”;2003年,法国政府特别授予余隆“法兰西文学艺术骑士勋章”;2005年,意大利政府向余隆颁发了“共和国骑士勋章”。2010年11月,中央音乐学院在其庆祝建院70周年大会上授予他中央音乐学院荣誉院士称号,以表彰他近十年来对中国音乐的发展和对外文化交流作出的杰出贡献。这是国内艺术大学首次颁发“荣誉院士”称号,余隆成为我国艺术家中获此殊荣的第一人。12月15日又被授予2010年年度中国文化人物大奖。

As one of the most distinguished Chinese conductors with an established international reputation, Maestro Long Yu is currently Vice-president of Chinese Musicians Association, Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of the China Philharmonic Orchestra, Music Director of the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, Music Director of the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Artistic Director of the Beijing Music Festival and Music in the Summer Air, MISA.

As the first Chinese conductor to be invited to conduct one of the “Big Five” orchestras of the America, the Philadelphia Orchestra, and as one who conducts the world top-class orchestras most frequently among Chinese conductors, Maestro Long Yu has appeared with a prestigious list of leading orchestras and a lot of opera companies around the world, including the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, the Washington National Symphony, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre de Paris, the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, the Hamburg State Opera, the Rundfunk- Sinfonieorchester Berlin, the Rundfunk Sinfonie Orchester Leipzig, Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Hong Kong Philharmonic, the Tokyo Philharmonic and the Singapore Symphony Orchestra.

Long Yu was born in 1964 into a family of musicians in Shanghai. Musical education in his early childhood came from his grandfather Ding Shande, a composer of great renown, and he later studied at the Shanghai Conservatory with Professor Xiaotong Huang and then studied at the Hochschule der Kunst in Berlin with Maestro Robinstein. Outstanding music talents and Excellent educational background make Long Yu a preeminent conductor.

Long Yu’s career has included both artistic and administrative appointments. In 1992, he was appointed Principal Conductor of the Central Opera Theatre in Beijing, and in the same year, he was involved in the planning of the first Beijing New Year’s Concert and served as its conductor for three consecutive years. He also produced operas for The Urban Council of Hong Kong for five successive years. In 1998, he led the creation of the Beijing Music Festival and was its Founding Artistic Director. Under his leadership the Beijing Music Festival is regarded as the largest classical music festival in the eastern hemisphere and one of the world’s most important music festivals. During the past 11years at this annual autumn festival there have been many splendid concerts given by leading orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic and the New York Philharmonic, as well as outstanding productions of the Ring, Der Rosenkavalier, Tannhäuser, La Traviata, Nabucco, Lulu and Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District by visiting opera companies including the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Teatro la Fenice and the Mariinsky Theatre.

In 2000, Long Yu co-founded the China Philharmonic Orchestra and was appointed Artistic Director and Chief Conductor. Now entering his 9th season with the China Philharmonic, he has maintained the high standard of orchestral performance and artistic administration and built the ensemble ’s reputation as not only a leading Chinese orchestra but also a world- famous one. In 2003, Long Yu was appointed the Music Director of the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra and he has been raising the level and fame of the orchestra rapidly. He toured extensively with the China Philharmonic Orchestra, the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra as well as the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra. In September 2003, under his leadership, the China Philharmonic Orchestra toured Europe, with memorable concerts at the Palais Garnier, Paris, the Teatr Wielki - National Opera Warsaw and the Grosser Saal of the Musikverein, Vienna. In December of the same year he undertook a major European and Egyptian tour with the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra and Mischa Maisky, giving concerts at Theatre des Champs- Élysées, Paris, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Luxemburg, Cairo Opera House and Alexander Opera House. From February to April 2005, he led the China Philharmonic Orchestra on an international tour. Within 40 days they appeared in 22 cities throughout North America and Europe. In 2008, for the first time in history, the China Philharmonic Orchestra performed under the baton of maestro Long Yu at the Vatican in the Paul VI Auditorium. The concert was attended by The Holy Father Pope Benedict XIV and marked a giant step in bringing eastern and western cultures closer together. In April 2009 the China Philharmonic Orchestra was selected by the Gramophone, which is widely regarded as the best classical music magazine in the world, as one of “the world’s 10 most inspiring orchestras”. In November 2009 Long Yu led the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra on a twelve-city North American tour which is a huge success. The tour began with the closing concert of the Ancient Paths, Modern Voices Festival at Carnegie Hall and included concerts in Los Angeles, Toronto and San Diego. A New York Times report from November 9, 2009 gave an introduction to Long Yu’s artistic achievement and hailed him as “China ’s Herbert von Karajan.” In March 2010 Long Yu conducted the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra at the 14th Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival in Krakow and gave concerts in Warsaw and Lodz. All the performances won high praise from both audiences and critics. In 2011, Long Yu toured extensively with the China Philharmonic Orchestra in 8 cities in west coast of United States. In Chinese spring festival of 2012, Long Yu led the New York Philharmonic Orchestra in the First Chinese New Year Concert at Carnegie Hall.

Maestro Long Yu’s reputation has been enhanced by his activities as a widely admired and respected figure in administration of orchestras and festival as well as in international exchanging of musical culture. As a champion of contemporary music Long Yu has been commissioning a number of works from today’s prominent composers such as Krzysztof Penderecki, Philip Glass, Guo Wenjing, Tan Dun, Ye Xiaogang and Unsuk Chin.

Mr. Long Yu’s recordings include, on Deutsche Grammophon with the China Philharmonic, Brahms’s Piano Quartet in G Minor (orch. Arnold Schoenberg) and Wagner’s Tannhäuser Overture, highlights of Chinese symphonic music and Yellow River Concerto with Lang Lang as featured soloist. Recordings on Naxos include Korngold’s Violin Concerto and Ding Shande’s Long March Symphony.

Long Yu received the 2002 Montblanc Arts Patronage Award from the Montblanc Cultural Foundation, and in 2003 came Le grade de chevalier dans l’ordre des Arts et des Lettres (The Honor of Chevalier of French Art and Culture) from the Government of France. In 2005, Italian President honored Maestro Long Yu L’onorificenza di commendatore.

In November 2010, the Central Conservatory of Music has presented Maestro Long Yu with a certificate of the Honourable Academician from the Central Conservatory at a conference for 70th year anniversary of its founding, in recognition of his great contribution and devoted efforts to the development in classical music in China and cultural exchanges over the past decade. On December 2010, he was awarded People of the Year in Arts Field in China.
