The annual National Day holiday always brings with it a season of flowers. In Beijing, local citizens are using special flowery language to express their best wishes for the nation's upcoming 53rd birthday. The festive ambience has already taken people to a fragrant, floral world.
This is Changpuhe Park, in the northeast of Tian'anmen Square. The combination of flowers and natural landscape is considered its trademark. The poinsettia, also known as the Christmas flower, and Dutch chrysanthemums are at the center of it, with green trees and a clear lake as a backdrop. In this park, which is free to go into, all the flowers are labeled, with information given about each one.
At the center of Beijing, the Tian'anmen Square is decorated with flowers and fountains. The flower sculptures represent the best birthday wishes to the nation from China's various ethnic groups.
In the west, the Xidan culture plaza has become a showplace of the productions of gardeners from different cities. A variety of elegant designs of the flower belt, flower basket and flower terrace is conveying the same messages of auspiciousness and joy.
And at Chaoyang's Tulip Park, the leading role is played by the chrysanthemum. As well as traditional Chinese species, some imported flowers from Japan and America are also on display.
