| NPC Standing Committee Meets |

The 26th meeting of the Standing Committee of the Ninth National People's Congress (NPC), China's top law-making body, convened in Beijing Wednesday.
Li Peng, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, presided over the plenary meeting Wednesday.
During the two-day meeting, law-makers will deliberate draft amendments to the law on import and export commodity inspection.
Li Changjiang, director of the State Administration of Quality Supervision and Quarantine, explained the draft amendments to the plenary meeting, stressing that the amending aims to conform to the rules of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
During the meeting, the lawmakers will also deliberate documents in preparation for the upcoming NPC annual session, including a draft agenda and a draft work report of the NPC Standing Committee.
