英语原文：A beauty competition is underway in
southwest China’s Sichuan province. But the
contestants for this event are giant pandas. And the
winners will be sent to the Taiwan region. Experts
organized by the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State
Council, as well as the State Forest Bureau, will
choose a lovely couple among the 17 competitors. These
animals will become the mainland’s goodwill gifts to
our Taiwan compatriots. Experts from the famous Wolong
Nature Reserve in Sichuan will accompany the chosen
couple to offer training for the staff in Taiwan. Both
Taizhong and Taibei are competing to be the home of
the couple. Taizhong says it has already chosen a good
location for the giant pandas’ new home. Meanwhile,
Taibei’s mayor says wherever the pandas end up,
they’ll spread goodwill.
