北极还有狼么？
狼的生命力很顽强，在全世界每个角落都能见到狼的影子。
在寒冷的北极圈，狼爸爸为了喂养两个刚出生不久的幼崽每日不停地捕猎，尽管饥饿，但要在冬天到来前尽量多地储备食物。母狼要看护幼狼，形影不离。
In this world of ice and snow，the North Pole, a wolf couple live out their life. This is the father wolf. If he looks little ugly it’s because he is shedding his coat, and he needs to roll on the ground to help the shedding process. This is his wife, the mother wolf. They have great affection for each other, and have been together for 7 years. Now they have two five-month old children. They must prepare enough food for the winter , or the family will starve to death. Nights at the North Pole are very long, lasting as much as 5 months. During this time, darkness envelops the entire frozen world. The little polar rabbits have jumped out of their holes, and are nibbling away at the green grass.
Wolves have very vivid body language. The mother wolf is urging her husband to look for something to eat. There is nothing for the father wolf to hide behind, so the adult rabbit is running as fast as he can to escape. But the young rabbit, not yet one year old, cannot run as fast. So it lays low in the grass. But it is found by the wolf at last.
Can the father wolf catch the poor little rabbit?
Although the young rabbit can run as fast as the adult at the beginning, the wolf has very good stamina. For the sake of his children, he pushes ahead, and finally, catches the poor rabbit. The mother wants to take the food for her children, but it seems the father is reluctant to give his prey to them.
The mother wolf gets the food without too much effort, and the father wolf doesn’t protest too much. It seems that there is something much more important than merely feeding himself. And that’s feeding the cubs.
Mother lets her hungry husband continue hunting. But it seems nothing as far as the eye can see among the boundless mountains. The father wolf is exhausted now. and he is not sure about the future.

以前看动画片叫《兔子，等着瞧》，里面每次都是兔子用机智战胜了狼，我猜它捉不到吧。
我觉得它都那么饿了，估计也追不上了吧
一家三口都在家里等着狼爸爸捕猎而归，忍受饥饿的同时狼爸爸还要试图捕捉行动灵敏的野兔，到底结果如何呢？让我们接着往下看。
The period of childhood for the wolf is quite long, for there is much to learn. The cubs’ may not be very large in size, but they have an enormous appetite. Unfortunately, he failed this time. Mother has already buried some extra dead hares caught by the father during the hunting midseason, and she will dig these up for the children when the father returns empty-handed..

To survive, the father wolf continues to catch other rabbits. The wolf has amazing stamina, and this time he succeeds. His luck is good today; he caught two rabbits. He plans to offer his wife one, and eat the other one himself. But it seems that mother is not grateful for the gift. Her desire to feed her cubs surpasses her own hunger. She snatches the other rabbit from the father and gives both of the rabbits to the children.
The long North Pole winter is coming. Cold is not the problem; the crucial question is whether or not there is enough food to share in family. The mother and father wolf will have to expend extraordinary effort if the young cubs are going to survive the winter.

我也没想到它会饿着肚子去捕食野兔，而且野兔跑得很快，狼必须追很久才能追到。你看公狼多不容易，就像我们男人一样。
我们女人更不容易，你看狼妈妈不但要喂小狼，还要时时刻刻保护它们的安全。公狼不自觉，还是母狼把食物抢了过来。
要是没有公狼的辛勤捕猎，一家子不都得饿死么？!
第二部分 狼与野牦牛
光吃小动物是上顿不接下顿，为了喂饱全家，狼夫妇必须去捕食更大的猎物。
我觉得是牛吧。
猜对了，不过可不是一般的牛。让我们看看这对狼夫妇捕食的是什么牛吧。
The small preys have all run off. The wolf parents now eye the largest and strongest prey – the North American bison. These beasts are the last of the bison species living in North America. Wolf packs have lived around bison herds for thousands of years. Although the wolves are hungry, they hesitate.
Now the father wolf is starving to death. It can hardly walk, he sees spots before his eyes. It would be wonderful f he could feast on this tasty bison. But those two horns look a bit difficult to handle. He has to call some relatives for help..
Some adult bison are enormous creatures, weighing up to a ton, whereas the big wolves weigh less than 60 kilograms. So for the wolf, it’s too dangerous to pounce on a bison.
Faced with these gate crashers, the bison are unafraid. They stay where they are, calmly eating the young grass.
The wolves cause the herd to start running. But it seems their method is not so effective.
After the first failure , they have another way.
With the help of the other adult bison, the calf is brought back into the herd by his mother and father, where it is safe. But it will be hard to shake off the fear it has experienced and it has got some wound, so it won’t live much longer.
It is very difficult to capture a bison, and the wolves can seldom capture a healthy one. Finally, one of the weaker bison stops for a moment to check its surroundings. It is a fatal mistake. The bison is quickly surrounded by the relentless wolves. The most powerful weapon the wolves possess is their sharp teeth, and so the battle will soon be over. Only death awaits the poor bison. And the wolf parents and their children at last have their magnificent feast.
This is a female wolf living in a forest in the outskirts of a European village. She now has 9 children. At the age of 6 months, most wolves begin to eat solid food. The cubs eat the deer meat the mother spits up from her stomach after returning, and there are two cubs who are still suckling their mother’s milk. Although the horses and deer are among the mother’s prey, it is still not easy to raise a brood of 9. And so they move out of their mountain dwelling and into the city. For the wolves, the shepherd’s flock is a tempting feast, but during the day, the sheep dogs keep a sharp eye out on the area. Even at night, this kind of shepherd dogs, the domesticated wolf , guarantees the safety of the sheep pen. Although bears and foxes also occasionally capture and eat a few sheep, the shepherds will put the blame on the wolves. Seeing that it is outnumbered, the female wolf returns to the city. Luckily, she can always find food for her children in the trash dumps. In order to feed her young, the female wolf has no choice but adapt to her surroundings.
The pack of wolves chooses a target. If they can separate this one from the others, then they can deprive it of its right to survive. Day after day, the troop of wolves maintains great pressure on the herd of bison. The pressure comes not only from outside, but also from inside. It’s a long process that exhausts the bison’s energy and will. But the wolves are patient.
Can they succeed this time?
我真是越来越觉得狼不但聪明还很有韧劲。一围围好几天，狼群可真够有耐心的。
不过看样子，狼围的办法也不管什么用。你们说他们还会继续么？
不会了，你看野牛根本就没把狼放在眼里，还在那有滋有味的吃着嫩草。
我看会，就算公狼想撤，母狼也会坚持，毕竟还有孩子呢
For the wolves, it is easy to catch a calf. But the calves always remain in the center of the herd protected by their parents, and so the wolves cannot get near them.
The wolves make the herd run again. Although the calves are small, they run as fast as their parents. If wolves continue the chase, calf will tire out or fall down. At that point it will out of the safety of the herd without any help. Finally, the wolves catch a calf, and it seems that the poor little one will loses its life.

大：我觉得狼会赢，因为它们是捕猎高手，在美国一些印地安部落里狼被奉为图腾，猎人们都以被人们比作狼而感到骄傲。另外狼是一种集体协作精神很强的动物，各自有不同的分工。

几经周折后，狼群终于有所斩获。虽然不是壮牛也不是小牛，而是头体弱多病的，但好歹能喂饱肚子了。
看来对我们来说，吃饱肚子这种轻而易举的事，对狼来说不是那么的容易。
这让我想起了大自然的法则：优胜劣汰
没错，不光狼和其他动物这样，人同样也适用于这个法则。
