　　The message service on mobile phones in China has taken on a new function: distributing newspaper content. The Beijing-based China Women's News has begun to provide a mobile-phone version to multimedia message service (MMS) users. Subscribers to the new service receive headlines and leads of major news stories running in the latest issues of the daily, as well as six to eight news photos.

　　The Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) has launched a live TV channel, with television news and video clips, on their mobile portal. NRK expects the content to become more tailored as the market picks up. However, the fee for the service is not cheap. A complete viewing of a 90-minute film costs the user 27 euros, which is about the equivalent of 8 movie theater tickets in Europe.

　　A man from Lithuania has created a cell phone orchestra using ring tones from dozens of mobile phones.

　　By programming groups of phones to ring simultaneously when they receive a group message, the different sections of the cell symphony can be heard.

　　While the mobile phone conductor admits there is no practical application for his creation, he hopes cell phone companies will use the orchestra for advertising campaigns.

　　South Korea's largest mobile phone operator said that it will offer cell phone users a new noise service that it says will Chase away mosquitoes.

　　Subscribers can pay US$2.50 to download a sound wave that is inaudible to human ears but annoys mosquitoes within a range of three feet. Customers can then play the sound by hitting a few buttons on their mobile phones.
