A sailboat has capsized near the Turks and Caicos Islands. The accident happened at night and plunged some 200 Haitian migrants into the water.
Fifteen bodies were recovered on Wednesday, and about 70 people remain missing. Survivors say there was no warning when their overloaded boat ploughed into a coral reef and began to break a part.
Local officials say many of the migrants come to the Turks and Caicos islands looking for a better life. The US Coast Guard suspended its search in the late afternoon after a 52-hour operation that covered more than 1500 square miles.
