Egyptian President meets EU Foreign Policy Chief

President Hosni Mubarak has met with European Union Foreign Policy Chief, Javier Solana.

During talks in Cairo on Sunday, they discussed the latest efforts to push forward the Israeli-Palestinian peace process and the formation of a Palestinian unity government.

Egypt has played a key part in negotiations between the two sides. Solana reiterated the EU's position on Iran's nuclear programme.

He said the EU doesn't want Iran to have nuclear weapons and will be ready to cooperate with Iran in the production of energy. Solana was in Cairo as part of a wider Mideast tour.
