Venturing out of Lijiang, Yan Ling geared towards Lugu Lake, a place known as home to mosuo ethnic folk and the place famous for its fairyland like scenery, and almost became a fairytale like place nicked as "the kingdom of women"

Lugu Lake is at least fairyland- like faraway, it took weeks to get there by caravan from Lijiang. Now it still takes six to seven hours of driving on a four-wheel-drive jeep.

Yan Ling: "What a ride. Every single piece of my 260sth bones forgot their original places. Even my brain feels hard to function normally. It is hard to register the fact that i am in a matriarchal village in one of the most remote part of China! Some call this mosuo village the Fairland of feminists, most people see it as a living fossil for us to witness how our ancestors lived millenniums ago when family was bonded by the blood from the mother side.... aren’t you curious?!"

Legend goes when mosuo ancestors wondering through Lugu Lake, they believed they were guided by god and finally found their home. So they gave up their nomadic living and settled here every since.

The body of the sacred water is very much as mosuo people's home as their cultural identity, their mother lake has become synonymous to their unique lifestyle.
