Ningbo Part Two

Host: I like this room better, although there are two four star hotels out there, because its cozier; it's cheaper; and it's closer to the ocean!

Xiangshan county is located on a peninsula stretching into the East Sea. At the same latitude with Florida and Hawaii, it is also blessed with hundreds miles of golden beaches.

In addition to the traditional recreational items you can find from a beach resort, Xiangshan provides a lot more than you'd expected. For example, sea fishing.

This is a buoy, used for sea flying fishing. And this is not something everybody can afford, and it's also our host's first time to ever go out to the deep sea and do some fishing.

The most ideal place for sea fishing in Xiangshan is Yushan island, about two hours ride from the peninsula. Due to time constraint, we didn't get to go that far, just opted for a small island to get the feel of this fancy sport.

The gear of sea-fishing is as impressive as I had expected at learning the price of it. The fishing pole can cost up to 4000 US dollars! That surely is not a price average Chinese can afford.

Dayushan is said to be the best sea fishing place in whole Asia because you can catch many rare species that are hard to find elsewhere.

You need to feed more good stuff to attract fish to this area.

Xiangshan also got the most incredible air. So at the end of the day, catching fish seems just a good excuse to get away and indulge yourself in the generous ocean.

Shipu port located at the southern tip of Xiangshan is listed among the six largest fishing ports in China. Compared to the grand resorts and huge beach, you can find the modest old town of Shipu port. It is especially charming.

It is said just by taking one bite, some Ningbo people can tell you where the seafood was caught. And they will proudly tell you that seafood here tastes the best, because Yangtze River brings fresh water into the ocean, creating a perfect water area to breed the most delicious seafood.
