Cruz scored 23 goals in his first season at Blackburn, but injury stalled his progress in the 2008-09 campaign. Cruz is City's second recent big name signing along with Gareth Barry. If the likes of Carlos Tevez and Samuel Eto'o can also be lured to the club, Cruz believes that, given time, Mark Hughes can make the team into trophy contenders

Rogue Santa Cruz said, "I think that's a very hard task. It's certainly not going to happen from one day to the other so there is plenty of work to do. It will take a lot of work and training and also to get the right mentality to start thinking of winning trophies."
