Amani Toomer beat Redskins cornerback Fred Smoot and hauled in a 40-yard touchdown pass from Eli Manning for a 7-0 lead. New York led Washington 10-0 at the end of the 1st quarter. Midway through the second quarter, the Redskins Devin Thomas dived in for a 29-yard touchdown on a reverse to cut the Giants lead to 13-7. Brandon Jacobs hurdled both sides of the line on a one-yard touchdown run to cap off an eight-play, 48-yard drive, and extended the Giants' lead to 20-7 midway through the third quarter. Then, losing by 13 points in the fourth quarter and in desperate need of a first-down, the Redskins gambled on fourth-and-one from their own 39-yard line. The Giants' Justin Tuck brought down NFL rushing leader Clinton Portis short of the first down. New York went on to beat Washington 23-7 for their seventh successive victory.
