Defending World Cup champion Armin Zoeggeler of Italy did not have the best of first runs. On his second run the Italian managed 49.138, which was slower than his first, and it appeared as if it would not be enough for him to clinch maximum points. Zoeggeler waited as the final three competitors took to the Olympia track.

Unsurprisingly, the Italian eventually had to settle for third place, as David Moeller of Germany set the second fastest combined time. Moeller was second fastest in the first run - 48.982 - and managed 49.006 on the second to give himself second place on the podium.

But top honours went to his compatriot Andi Langenham. The German set a time of 48.886 on the first run, and a 49.091 on the second run was enough to give him the fastest overall time. The result gave Langenham his first ever World Cup win - a great start to the season.
