In women's football, the Chinese Under-20 Women's World Cup team  defeated the USA 2-0 in its final round-robin match in Temuco,  Chile Wednesday. But, China still failed to break through into  the last eight.

China, ranking 3rd in the group, faced a USA side which was already assured of a spot in the quarterfinal match on Wednesday.

Neither side scored until the second half, when China broke the deadlock in the 49th minute. Zhang Rui made the team's first goal in the World Cup to put China ahead 1-0.

Six minutes later, Chen Shukun slotted the ball in from 26 meters to double China's lead. The score of 2-0 lasted until the final whistle.

Also in the group, France defeated Argentine 3-1 to join the USA in the quarterfinals. As a result, China failed to qualify for the next round.
