Andrew Symonds has been cleared of any  wrongdoing by Cricket Australia after an  investigation into a widely-reported bar  fight.

Meanwhile, Cricket Australia chief executive James Sutherland says he's satisfied that a comprehensive investigation -- including statements from hotel management, staff and patrons -- supports Symonds' version of an incident involving a drunken fan over the weekend.

Andrew Symonds has been cleared of any wrongdoing by Cricket  Australia after an investigation into a widely-reported bar fight.

James Sutherland said, "I'm pleased to advise that Cricket Australia, through an investigation managed by our General Manager of Cricket Michael Brown, is totally satisfied that Andrew did not provoke that incident and when approached by the patron in question handled himself appropriately. Whilst Andrew agrees that he should have thought twice about actually going to the hotel, his response when subsequently provoked, was restrained and mature."
