The Showdown of Champions tennis series continues its journey across Asia. World number two Roger Federer and American ace James Blake were among the players taking part in a news conference on Wednesday.

The opening day of the series took place in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur Tuesday, with the tennis roadshow continuing in Macao Thursday night. The Showdown of Champions series is also one way of promoting tennis in Asia, with Federer talking of his optimism at seeing an Asian star in the men's draw soon.

Roger Federer says, "I really hope that specially in China, you know, we get a player soon, especially the men's side. Because the women's side we have some great players already who big titles and I think with Olympic doubles, the Australian Open doubles, and also playing in Wimbledon this year, Zheng Jie. I think it will be very nice to see from the men's side not only here in China but also around Asia great players that will definitely help to raise the popularity of the game here".
