Some dominating baseline play helped Murray break Golubev in the fourth game of the first set to give himself a 3-1 lead. A snappy backhand volley from Murray was too fast for Golubev and a poor backhand of his own saw him surrender this first set 6-1 after just 29 minutes.

Murray powered through the second set, breaking Golubev with a sliced forehand to go 4-1 ahead. Golubev rallied well when serving to stay in the match at 1-5, but a floating backhand when facing match point dipped into the net and handed Murray the win in under an hour. The result gave Murray his fifth title of the year, and the eighth of his career, as he continues to go from strength to strength.

Andy Murray said, "Yes I played very well today. That was his first final so he was probably a little bit nervous but you know, he had a lot of confidence. He played really well all week and you know, I played very consistently. I served well and didn't give him too many chances and obviously I won pretty comfortably."
