Michael Phelps from the United States swam into the history books Wednesday earning his 10th and 11th Olympic gold medals, a feat never before accomplished. What could be the secret of Phelps success?

Baltimore, a busy port city, is the home town of Michael Phelps. The boy from suburban Rodgers Forge earned the nickname the swimming superman from US media.

As an icon to many children, Phelps childhood was not so glamorous or promising. He was thin and some people laughed at his big ears. He found his place at the swimming pool. Phelps started swimming when he was 7 at the North Baltimore Aquatic Club. He set a record at the national games when he was 10. At 15, he became the youngest swimmer to compete for the US in the Olympics in 68 years.

After Phelps's success, people came to the swim club trying to discover the the secrets of his success. Phelps' coach said, the secret is just hard work.

As Phelps' coach says, the swimmer's success didn't come by chance. Phelps did a lot of hard work. He made a lot of sacrifices. It all paid off for the man who became one of the greatest Olympic athletes ever.
