Wushu will make its debut as an Olympic event in Beijing. Wang Kewen and Li Tianya are preparing for the US team in Willimantic city in Connecticut.
15-year-old Wang Kewen has been learning Wushu for nearly ten years, and 17-year-old Li Tianya, for eight. They get the training at the same school, and they'll go to the Olympics, together, too.
Wang Kewen was only six when told his mother that he wanted to learn Wushu after seeing a performance. He didn't even know what Wushu was at that time. And once his parents took him to classes, he was hooked.
Li Tianya has a similar story. Her mother wanted her to learn dance, but she said she loved Wushu much more.
They're no different from other children their age when they're not in training, but something special happens when they practice martial arts.
Wang and Li are on summer vacation, so they have time to focus completely on the Olympics.
They're young and they have dreams, and Wushu will help make those dreams come true.
