Longyan is home to millions of overseas Chinese. The city is famous because it was the place where the Red Army began their Long March 79 years ago. Longyan is also known for churning out some of the country's top athletes, such as Olympic champion weightlifter Shi Zhiyong, and badminton player Lin Dan. The route in Longyan will cover a distance of 30.5 kilometers, and it marks the last stop of the relay in Fujian province.
