Hennie Otto lost a five-shot lead for the second time in four tournaments but still managed to record his maiden European Tour victory.
On Sunday's Italian Open, Englishman Oliver Wilson's final round included no dropped shots - however, he managed to make three more birdies to finish second in the final day. This birdie came at the 13th - the third in a run of four on the back nine in which he drew level with Otto.
Having seen a five-shot lead disappear, the South African sank this 20-foot birdie putt on 13th. Then, requiring a par four at the last to win, he had to play his second shot with one foot in the sand. The ball chased towards the hole, giving Otto two putts for victory. He used them both for a 69 and a 25-under aggregate of 263.At 31, Otto's triumph banished the memory of his play-off loss to Scot Alastair Forsyth in March in Madeira, where he also held a five-shot lead on the final day.
