Hu Jiayan, deputy director, State General Administration of Sports, said, "The successful ascent is not only being celebrated by the Chinese Mountaineering Team, but also by our country and our people."

Li Zhixin, chief of base camp headquarters, said, "As a mountaineer, it is our dream to spread the Olympic spirit through mountaineering. Chinese mountaineers fulfilled that dream and it will encourage all mountaineers around the world."
