And now finally, he's earned the top honor of being the NBA's most valuable player. The 11-year veteran was given the Maurice Podoloff Trophy as the NBA's 2007-2008 Most Valuable Player on Tuesday. Bryant totaled 1,105 points, including 82 first place votes, from a panel of sportswriters and broadcasters throughout the United States and Canada. Bryant averaged 28.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 1.84 steals while playing all 82 games despite tearing a ligament in his right pinkie in February. Bryant is second in the NBA in scoring behind LeBron James. But he is the first Laker to win the MVP award since Shqauille O'Neal.
