The sport's governing body FINA wants to re-examine the suit following a wave of recent world records.

Eamon Sullivan broke the men's 50-metre freestyle world record for the second time in six weeks, while Libby Trickett smashed the elusive 53-seconds barrier in the women's 100 metres freestyle. Both of the two swimmers were wearing the lightweight LZR Racer swimsuit, which has special panels to reduce drag.

Since its launch on February 12th, 16 world records have been broken - 15 of them by swimmers wearing the state-of the art suit. FINA said earlier this week it will re-examine the suit at next month's world short course championships in Manchester, England.
