But it's not staying in lavish guest room - rather, the cauldron of fire is being guarded in Olympic Mansion's underground parking lot. The cauldron gets lit to preserve the tradition of the passing of the flame. The Olympic mansion is also the site where media can register to witness the grand ceremony.

According to the Hellenic Olympic committee, the number of reporters attending this year's Olympic torch lighting ceremony is the biggest-ever in history.
