Chinese rookie Chen Xiexia has made a strong debut at the world weightlifting championships in Thailand. She has won the gold medal in the women's 48kg category.
Chen Xiexia was the last one to appear on the court.After three successful attempts in the snatch, the 24-year-old was awarded the gold for hoisting 96kg.10kg more than Thailand's Pramsiri Bunphitak, the silver winner. The story continued for the clean and jerk world record holder, as she completed her first two lifts with apparent ease. She tried to lift 122kg in her last attempt, but failed. With the combined lifts of 96kg in the snatch with 118kg in the clean and jerk she finished with 214kg, and was crowned the champion.
