Special Report:   2008 Beijing Olympics

The first phase of ticket sales for the 2008 Olympics ended a month ago, and according to newest figures released by the ticketing department of BOCOG, tickets sales were hot! Over 720-thousand applications have been received and more than five million tickets have been booked.

Rong Jun, director of Beijing Olympic Ticketing Center, said, "The first phase of ticket sales for the 2008 Olympics ended June 30th. Already more than 720-thousand orders were made through the ticketing website, Bank of China outlets and mail

submissions. Purchased tickets totaled more than 5 million. Among those booking tickets, most buyers are making a bee-line for tickets for the opening ceremony, exceeding far more than the 20-thousand tickets available."

The first phase of ticket sales for the 2008 Beijing Olympics officially started on April 15th. In just over two months, the Beijing organizers have received over 720-thousand applications requesting over 5-million tickets.

Nowadays, Beijing Olympic Ticketing Center is auditing the validity of these booked tickets. The distribution of the tickets will be decided in August.
