Cedric Vasseur has become the first Frenchman to take a stage of this year's Tour de France. He won a five-man sprint finish at the end of 10th stage.
Wednesday saw the riders welcome a relatively flat stage from Tallard to Marseille. With around 30 kilometers to go a five-man lead group was formed.
Cedric Vasseur was among them as a five-way game of cat and mouse began inside the final kilometre. Vasseur attacked from the back of the pack, slipping almost unnoticed to the front. The French rider forged the slightest of leads and powered his way over the final metres to win the stage.
Overall leader Michael Rasmussen of Denmark finished the day in 30th place, but still retained the lead in the overall standings.
