At the women's basketball four-nation invitational tournament in Shanghai, China were looking to make it 5 wins out of 5 when they took on New Zealand, and eventually proved up to the task, even without main force Miao Lijie.
With a powerful starting line-up fielding players such as Bian Lan, Ren Lei, Chen Xiaoli and Chen Nan, the Chinese side quickly went into a 4-0 lead. But that trend didn't last long as New Zealand soon geared up their defense.
Chen Nan was then replaced by Zhang Xiaoni, who went on to make effective offensives one after the other. That in addition to frequent mistakes by their opponents resulted in a 36-21 lead for China going into the break.
Both teams were applying replacement strategies, but three pointers by Bian Lan and Ren Lei helped to stretch China's lead even further. Hu Xiaotao finally made one last three pointer before the Chinese women thrashed the Kiwis 78-49.
