To the Montreux Volleyball Masters, and the 2004 Olympic champions have suffered the first blow in the tournament after being defeated by arch rivals Cuba in the last round of the group stage. But two wins in the first two matches mean China are still through to the semi-finals.

Two consecutive wins against Turkey and Poland in the tournament mean China have already guaranteed themselves a semi-final place.

In the last round of the group stage, China were up against revamped arch-rivals Cuba.

China head coach Chen Zhonghe continued to use the same line-up of the first two day, as Xue Ming and Xu Yunli's efficient blocking tactics threatened the opponents.
