Ana Ivanovic became the first Serbian player to earn a place in the final of the French Open on Thursday, following a 6-2, 6-1 demolition of world number two Maria Sharapova. And she will play reigning champion Justine Henin in the final on Saturday after the Belgian world number one produced a straightforward 6-2, 6-2 win over Serbian Jelena Jankovic.

Ivanovic made the better start in her match against Sharapova in the day's first semi-final clash.

Current Wimbledon champion Sharapova broke her opponents serve at 5-1 to stay in the set.

However it wasn't to be, as Ivanovic broke back in the very next game to clinch the opening set 6-2.

The second set became even more one sided.

Despite pulling a game back to trail 5-1, Sharapova never really looked comfortable throughout the match. Ivanovic wrapped things up with a stylish ace on her first match point for an emphatic 6-2, 6-1 victory.
