Special Report:   2008 Beijing Olympics

Beijing Olympic Organizers have come up with a Human Resource Action Plan for the 2008 Games to guarantee smooth preparations.

A comprehensive Action Plan for Olympic Human Resources was unveiled by Beijing Olympic Organizers on Wednesday. They say the plan plays an important role in providing competent personnel during preparations for the Games.

Xin Tieliang, Beijing Municipal Personnel Bureau director, said, "Following the State Council's commitment to a "High-quality

Olympics with distinctive characteristics", this action plan sets out to provide human resources support and guarantees in achieving this goal."

Under the plan, Beijing will select and train staff in over 16 fields to serve the Olympics.

Human resource skills associated with foreign affairs, security, transport, health care, construction, environment and commerce are important. People who will serve the Olympics are expected to be proficient in their professions and knowledgeable about the Olympics. The 100,000 Games volunteers are also included in the plan.

BOCOG now has a staff of over 1,800 Chinese and 30 foreign experts.
