The International Women's Volleyball Elite Championship has ended in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province. Despite conceding their match against Cuba, China still managed to win the tournament with a 2-1 record.

After having won the first two matches in the tournament, China was confident going into the match against arch-rivals Cuba.

And things did go their way when they won the first two sets, both by 25-20. But by then, China were no longer threatened and the experienced Cuba team made it a roller-coaster match with fast spiking. Cuba mounted a major comeback by winning the next three sets, and finally took the match 3-2.

For China it was the first defeat of the season, but they still managed to win the tournament with a 2-1 record.
