Chinese skaters have taken one silver and two bronze medals at the ongoing Winter Universiade in Turin. This brings the country's overall medal tally to one gold, one silver and three bronze medals.
Speed skaters win silver, bronze
Two Chinese skaters, Sheng Xiaomei and Yu Jing started their gold medal bid in the women's 500 meters at the venue of last year's Winter Olympics.
But the Chinese duo failed to hold off the charge from South Korea's Lee Sang Hwa, who led all the way to claim the gold. Sheng Xiaomei and Yu Jing had to settle for silver and bronze respectively.
Yu Jing said "The South Koreans are more skillful and experienced than us. We can learn quite a lot from them."
Fang Dan takes bronze
Meanwhile, China's figure skaters continued their impressive form in Turin.
Young prodigy Fang Dan came into the lady's individual free skating after ranking third in the short program.
She skated to her best to earn 136 point five points to finish with a bronze. Japan's Akiko Suzuki took gold.
