The meeting is expected to start on Thursday at the residence of Costa Rica's president. President Zelaya is bolstered by international condemnation of his ouster. He insists returning him to officeis the only way to restore order and prevent unrest in the country. Meanwhile, Interim Honduran President Roberto Micheletti says a commission has been established to hold talks.
But he says the caretaker government will NOT negotiate Zelaya's return to power. He also insisted Zelaya's removal was in lawful defense of the constitution. Since the positions on both sides are very distant, it is not clear how long it will take to achieve a breakthrough in the political turmoil.
