Special Report: World tackles A/H1N1 flu |
The World Health Organization says the spread of the A/H1N1 flu virus across the globe is now unstoppable. WHO Director-General Margaret Chan told a summit of health ministers from around the world in Cancun, Mexico that the world was in the early days of the 2009 influenza pandemic.

The summit was called to design strategies for battling the pandemic, which is spreading rapidly through Europe. Cases in Britain are projected to reach 100-thousand daily by the end of August. The virus is also strongly taking hold in the Southern Hemisphere and is even showing signs of rebounding in Mexico.
According to the latest figures available, there were 332 deaths and more than 77-thousand confirmed cases worldwide as of Wednesday. China's Health Minister Chen Zhu stressed after the meeting that cooperation is essential in fighting the flu outbreak.
Chen Zhu, Chinese Minister of Health said "The collaboration is very good, I think the fact that we are here to be part of the meeting is good evidence. I think we have to continue the communication and further the collaboration and we are so friendly, brother countries."
