After talks with Honduran officials, the OAS head says the interim government is not willing to restore ousted President Manuel Zelaya to power. Jose Miguel Insulza also says he does not see an end to the impasse in the coming days.

The head of the Organization of American States came to Honduras with a firm ultimatum to the coup-backed government.

Jose Miguel Insulza clarified his position: the ousted President Manuel Zelaya must be restored to power unconditionally within 24 hours, or Honduras would be suspended from the organization.

Despite that, the interim government head Roberto Micheletti rallied supporters in front of the national palace which he has occupied since Zelaya was flown into exile.
