Italy will hold the rotating presidency of the Group of Eight industrialized countries later this month.
It says it's still waiting a reply from Iran to an invitation to the G8 meeting.
Franco Frattini, Italian Foreign Minister, said, "We're waiting for a clear response. We strongly hope Iran will be represented at the highest possible political level--I mean at the level of foreign minister. I think it is a very good opportunity for Iran to show commitment towards cooperating and contributing, towards the stabilization of a broader region including Pakistan and Afghanistan."
