These symptoms naturally led his family to think he had some sort of disease.
However, they still took him to the hospital in the county.
Rashes are a common childhood illness. In most cases, the symptoms will disappear naturally without taking medicine. Luo Qi’s family took the prescribed medicine back home and administered the medicine.
They thought that he would get better, but he didn’t.
His family decided to take him to the hospital in Fuyang city, where Chen Xiaofeng, director of the infectious disease room 2 of the Second People’s Hospital of Fuyang, received them.
After a careful check-up and listening to his parents’ description, Dr. Chen thought of a number of recent cases in the hospital and connected them together. There were many children who had the same symptoms as Luo Qi coming to the hospital. Dr. Chen gave his primary diagnosis.
Luo Qi’s parents were very surprised at the result. Many children have been diagnosed with hand-foot-mouth disease in Fuyang since March of this year and some of them even died. It has really hit the local area hard. But what kind of disease is it?
To confirm the diagnosis, Dr. Chen did further technical tests on Luo Qi.
EV71 virus is an Enterovirus that has a high level of contagiousness.
The doctor prescribed medicine for Luo Qi.
But a whole night’s care and treatment didn’t have the desired result, and the next day his situation was much more serious.
His family members were shocked by this sudden turn for the worst.
Anhui Health Department and the Ministry of Health sent some experts to Fuyang to help the local hospital deal with the disease since the hand-foot-mouth disease was spreading here. They took many types of equipment and went to the front line to help and support the local doctors. Under the experts’ guidance, they managed to save Luo Qi’s life.
Having had this experience, Luo Qi’s family members wanted to learn more about hand-foot-mouth disease.
Why are weak children likely to be infected by virus from the Enterovirus family?
The experts explained that the immunity that children get from their mothers starts to decrease when they are six months old. Their immune system won’t be fully developed until they are five or six years old. So they are more likely to fall ill during this period.
However, the experts suggest people that healthy life style, and good health habit, are helpful for preventing this disease.
Now, Luo Qi has been in restoration stage. Several days later, he can leave hospital.
Hand-foot-mouth disease is not a terrible disease. As long as people treat it with serious attitude and scientific curing methods, it can be prevented.
