Introduction:
Following the end of the 3rd round of China-US Strategic Economic Dialogue here in Beijing, vice premier Wu Yi said that the talks were a complete success.
Mr. Henry Paulson, her American counterpart, called for China to let the renminbi rise further and to increase the US shares in China’s financial services and to protect intellectual property rights.
So far, the US refuses to recognize China as a fully-fledged market economy. He also encouraged China to rely more on the domestic-driven demand and less on external demand to reduce trade friction.
Wu Yi said instead that the US should drop controls on high-tech product exports to China. Both sides agree to strengthen cooperation in areas of climate change and environmental protection.
