Sunday night, a concert at Beijing's Cultural Palace of Nationalities paid tribute to one of China's great composers and lyricists. Despite his renown, the name of Xiao Guang is little recognized throughout China.

Sunday night, a concert at Beijing's Cultural Palace of Nationalities paid tribute to one of China's great composers and lyricists.

While the name of Xiao Guang may not be familiar around China his music is. He wrote many of the country's most popular songs. 30 years ago, renowned performers like Liu Bingyi, Yin Xiumei, and Guan Mucun established their musical careers, singing songs written by Xiao Guang.

His pieces now stand as witness and testimony to the 30 years of China's reform and opening up.
