There are meatballs stewed with Chinese cabbage and homemade dried bean curd served in slices. They are two of Taiwan's gastronomic delights. The two delicacies actually originate on the mainland, having made their way to Taiwan through fishermen from Zhejiang province, decades ago. And there are other dishes, Wuxi pork steaks, sea cucumber pan fried with sliced carrots and baked Fenghua sweet potato.
Organizers of the exhibition, say most of the delicacies were favorites of late Chiang Kai-shek, leader of the Kuomintang.

Chen Guojun, official of Tourism Promotion Service, Taoyuan County, said, "Taiwan residents visiting the mainland are eager to try some cuisine which was liked by late Mao Zedong, leader of the Communist Party of China. We think visitors to Taiwan from the mainland will be interested to try out some favourite delicacies of the Chiang family. Tourism is an important industry for the island. If one traveller spends about 220 US dollars in Taiwan, 100 thousand visitors would contribute nearly two billion New Taiwan dollars to the economy."
The food exhibition is being held at Shanghai's Sasha Restaurant, which once was favoured by Chiang Kai-shek as a venue for important celebrations.
