| Dining is soaring to new heights in Berlin as epicures savour their dinners high above the city -- perched atop a crane. |
Those who seek extravagant dining experiences now can experience "dinner in the sky" -- looking down on the rooftops of Berlin.
A four-course meal is served 50 metres above ground in a restaurant that sits on a suspended platform. The restaurant which is raised onto its perch by crane seats 22 people.
The price is a hefty 159 euros per person excluding alcoholic beverages. The Belgian owners say clients "must not have fear of heights."
One thing that's essential is that plates for the main course be kept hot. Deputy chef Elmar Sertel reveals the solution.
Elmar Sertel,Deputy Chef, said,"We have special plastic boxes for the plates which we take up there and take out just before we serve the food. So they stay relatively hot."
Otherwise everything is the same as when you normally cook outside of the kitchen. You have to make sure that you have everything with you."
Asked for his opinion about the meal, guest Severin Gasteiger answered "it is something that you don't do every day."
Severin Gasteiger,Guest, said, "The food is as good as we are high up. No complaints, thumbs up."
Whereas dropping your fork can create a problem, getting back down to the ground level rest room does not. It takes one minute to lower the platform to the ground.
