The evening gala was tailored for the tenth day before the opening of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. The show featured song and dance, opera, and acrobatics. During intervals there were interviews with the Olympic Elite and there were promotional videos. The entire broadcast came off as a seamless effort.

Stars from show business, including Emil Chou, Joey Yung, Jackie Chan, Liu Huan and Han Hong, appeared on stage to help fuel the Olympic spirit.
Members of the chorus consisted of athletes and instructors from an earlier generation. The oldest are in their eighties. The youngest over sixty.
Russian singer Vitas performed a solo as part of the evening's entertainment.
